Silk Satin for Sleep Products and Apparel
Choose silk satin when a smooth, reflective face matters, then approve the color, momme and finished construction together.
- Surface: Smooth face with clear sheen
- Used for: Pillowcases, sleep masks, pajamas and robes
Approve the Face and Reverse Separately
Check both sides of the selected satin. They may not show the same sheen, hand or color under the same light.
- Light: Sheen changes across angles and folds
- Color: Dark shades can show handling and pressure marks more clearly
- Construction: Record which face is visible on each panel
What to Check in the Finished Product
A flat swatch shows the surface. The finished sample shows fit, folds, seams, pressing and package pressure.
Pillowcases
Fit the approved satin around the intended insert before confirming the construction.
- Material: Momme, color and front-and-back build
- Opening: Envelope, zipper or side opening
- Check: Fit, flange or piping, pressing and packing
Sleep Masks
Review the satin with the complete layer stack, contour and strap rather than as a loose swatch.
- Surface: Confirm the face-contact side
- Structure: Filling, layers, contour and strap
- Check: Fit, seam pressure and packed shape
Pajamas
Use a fitting sample to judge drape, opacity and movement in the selected momme.
- Fit: Size, neckline or collar and sleeve
- Details: Placket, waistband, pockets and piping
- Check: Seams, embroidery and pressing marks
Robes
Longer panels and front overlap should be reviewed in motion and after packing.
- Shape: Length, sleeves, collar and overlap
- Details: Belt, loops, pockets and piping
- Check: Balance, movement, marks and packed folds
Check Marks Before and After Packing
Smooth, high-sheen surfaces can reveal changes from handling, sewing, pressing and package pressure.
Approve the Surface
Record face, reverse, momme, color and hand under relevant light.
Inspect the Finish
Check seams, trims and pressing for pulls, pressure lines or uneven sewing.
Open the Package
Review the folded product again for marks caused by packing and storage pressure.
