Prepare Artwork and Color for Silk Printing
In-house digital and screen printing for silk projects. Send the base fabric, artwork, layout, color reference and finished use for review.
- Base: Silk weave, momme and target width
- Artwork: Editable or high-resolution file at the intended size
- Layout: Repeat, placement, border and print direction
- Color: Pantone code or physical reference
- End use: Fabric supply or finished product
A Print File Is Only the Start
The quote also depends on the selected silk, real-size layout, color references, coverage and cutting plan. Basic layout, logo placement, color suggestions and a simple 2D mockup can support the review.
Choose the Fabric and Print Route Together
Method selection begins with the artwork, color structure, base silk, coverage and quantity.
Build the Artwork at Real Size
Show how the design should sit on the fabric or finished panel before sampling.
- Repeat
Mark the repeat unit, direction and how the design joins. - Placement
Show the panel, center, border, cutting area and parts that must not be cropped. - Working file
Send the best editable or high-resolution version; the accepted setup is confirmed per project.
Approve Color on the Selected Silk
Screen color and paper references do not show the final result on a specific silk surface.
- Color reference
Send Pantone codes or a physical sample and identify critical colors. - Print sample
Review color, scale and detail on the production base silk. - Approval record
Keep the artwork version, method, scale, color reference and date with the sample.
Define Coverage and the Finished View
Print direction and cutting position affect what appears on the finished product.
- Placed design
Mark the fixed position against the finished panel or product dimensions. - All-over repeat
Show the repeat, direction, joins and any border relationship. - Front and back
State the expected reverse-side or double-sided visual result for sampling.
Record the Print Review
The review should leave one clear set of inputs for sampling.
- Fabric and method
Identify the base silk and proposed digital or screen route. - Artwork and layout
Lock the usable file, scale, repeat, position and direction. - Open decisions
List unresolved color, crop, reverse-side or final-product questions.
Keep One Approved Version in Production
Bulk instructions should point to the same physical sample and written approval.
- Project code
Link the base silk, artwork, scale, position, direction and color reference. - Change control
Recheck any change to fabric, artwork, color or coverage before bulk printing. - Cutting handoff
Carry the approved border, orientation and placement into the finished product.
Continue the Print Project
Choose the next page according to the decision that is still open.
